ADA Policy and Research Intern

An internship placement opportunity exists in the Brookline Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Relations for the Summer 2024, and possibly through the end of the Fall of 2024.  Motivated graduate and undergraduate students interested in diversity, social equity, advocacy, civic engagement, and community outreach are sought to work on a variety of projects under the general direction of Sarah E. Kaplan, ADA Coordinator & Community Relations Specialist of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Relations in Brookline.

ADA Policy and Research Intern

 

  • Research, Data Collection, and Data Management 
    Assisting in research on & collection of data focused on the following: 
    • Town’s ADA Transition Plan, including write ups, physical inspections of Town buildings and spaces, and taking of photos
    • Research and writing for the Transition Plan resource guide
    • Development of community outreach plan
    • Other project based on intern’s interest and skill, if possible

 

The position requires approximately 15 hours per week, a commitment of at least one semester (Summer 2024). The department can provide a modest stipend of $500 a semester. The intern will be expected to work from home with regular check-ins, communication with supervisor, and deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, computer ability, research skills, and required for all positions.  All students will be responsible for a specific project, among other duties.
